Is democracy the best system for all countries?

Actually, yes.

To explain such strong opinion we need to analyze what political systems we have nowadays in the world.

The authentic democracies were in Greek city-states, which are unlikely to be similar to modern states. They had a procedure of elections that included giving opinions for and against a candidate who might take power. Also they had a rigorous selection process of those citizens who could vote – they should be adult, had an appropriate level of income, be able to do military service, and, of course, be men. It doesn’t look like human rights in democratic countries as we know them, does it?

Furthermore, when political institutions changed due to the economical, cultural grownt and increase of population, power was represented by a person – the monarch, who usually made decisions according to an opinion of the political elites. Nominally he had unlimited opportunities to govern, but in fact he usually listened to the view of majority of respectable citizens. So, even monarchy had strong democratic components.

After the Age of Enlightenment the world had received other indispensable components of any political system – the primacy of law and the eguality of people. Till now a country, which has a priority of law above personal interests and power, is a democracy, as well as the country, where people have equal rights.

And then the impact of global world organizations like the United Nations caused broadening democratical components of power all over the world. Every, or almost every country has a constitution, which included human rights, the primacy of law and some type of election system for changing the state authorities.

Clear that no one state in the world has a total democracy, because the law is not always respected, people are not always equal and opportunities to become a state leader are not available for everyone. But in spite of this fact, I believe, every country tries to provide some parts of democracy in its own way, Even the Soviet Union, China, and Cuba had democratic elements like law and equality. I think the North Korea and ISIS also can be seen as developing democracies, but their values are quite specific and marginal for us.

So, we can suggest that we will use democracy as the way of governing and as the social and political value in the future, as well as we had some elements of it in ancient countries.
